Yes, I understand what you are saying there, but I honestly think there are not that many situations now where you have enough computers together in one place to make it worthwhile playing on a LAN
Yes, there totally is.
We are in a student residence where internet is provided, but behind a firewall and a proxy, letting through port 80 and friends only.
So no online games, but we can all play together in LAN.
Given that the game does not requires access to the Internet (as a MMO would, for instance), an offline mode is a must-have.
